 Here is my task for summer tastes. I did 4 summer foods that I love to eat.   

Which One Doesn't Belong?

I learnt that every thing is different  in there own way. I had fun making and figuring out the slides for this activity.  I hope that you can figure out my slide and I challenge you to do so.

Optical Illusion

 Here is my Optical illusion.  I did it a while ago but forgot to put it on my blog.  I watched a video to show me how to make this hand one and at the end I had smudge the pencil in to make it look more like it was popping out.  My brother helped me and he did one himself.  That day we went to town and saw one on the wall as well.  It was really cool because it had a hammer trying to hit a little door.  It was cool seeing it.

Build a Xylophone with Nanogirl!

I enjoyed making a water xylophone.  I made up the tune Mary had a little lamb.  I recorded it and then played the same tune on the piano.   I found that the tune worked on the piano.

Then we took off the piano cover and looked at the hammers hitting the strings.  The low notes had big strings and the high notes had little strings.  The strings vibrated when we touched the keys because it pushes the hammer down and it hits the string making it able to vibrate.

My Kowhaiwhai

 
 Here is my Kowhaiwhai. I made my Kowhaiwhai with the koru and put it in different places. I put little and big ones in. I wanted a heart so I joined two koru's together.  I went paddle boarding in the morning so     that `s  how I got my background.

 I liked going out into the garden and finding things.  I hope you like my bug.

My bug is a lady bug made out of bark, leaves broken into little pieces and flax for the head.  I also found 2 tiny flowers on my fairy garden plant and used these for eyes.  My bug is sitting on a big leaf and has some purple and white flowers around it.

Cultures of the World

We have been learning about cultures of the world. I chose Scotland to find out about its culture. Here is my slide presentation.

Catching the sun

We have been learning about narrative writing. We rewrote a story called Catching the Sun. 

 beginning

At some cold and terrible dark place of the world, lived Deer, Fox, Magpie and Saynday in the cold and dark. They were as angry as goblins because there was no warmth or bright light.  Saynday has a brilliant idea, “can you all sprint really fast?”  Yes they all yelled like a herd of elephants. Quietly, Saynday whispered the whole plan. 

Middle

The fluffy fox dashed to the bright side of the world. He stayed there until the sunny sun people trusted him. The sunny sun people taught him how to play their fun games with the sun. Finally the time had come, the brown Fox grabbed the shiny sun  and zoomed until he couldn't run any more.

END

Fox passed the sun  anxiously to Deer. Deer ran and ran like an antelope. Deer zoomed and zoomed until he couldn't run any more. The mad, sunny, sun people were way behind. The Deer trotted to the feathery Magpie. Magpie flew like an eagle. Magpie passed the bright, glowing sun to Saynday. Saynday put it in the sky. One day they were too hot, so Saynday chucked the sun so high that there was light on both sides of the world.

Here is my handwriting sample for Term 4. I am good at forming my letters and sitting them on the lines. I need to think about which way round to write z and when to use a capital letter in a sentence.

 This week, to end our procedure writing topic, we have been creating our own games. I made a slideshow  game. My theme was a desert.

We have been learning to write a procedure. I know a procedure has to have a title, goal, materials and steps. My steps have to be specific, in order, start with a capital letter and a verb.

Addition and Subtraction Problems

 We have been learning to solve addition and subtraction problems using place value. We had to complete these problems using this strategy. I feel great that I can use this strategy to solve the problems.

My speech

 My speech topic is Hospitals. I chose this topic because I know a lot about. When I presented my speech I felt Happy. What I did well was I had a good pace. what I could have done better was speak a little lower

Speech Topic:  Do you know why hospitals are so important? 

Have you visited a hospital lately? My grandad had to go to hospital recently. A hospital is a place

that you go to if you are sick or injured. I believe that hospitals are important.  Here are my 3

reasons why.

Firstly, if we didn’t have hospitals some people would die, the nurses and doctors at the hospital

help save people.

My second reason that hospitals are important is they help people when they are hurt. If you fall

out of a tree or fall off a horse and break a bone, you can go to hospital. They will give you an

x-ray and bandage you up or give you a cast to help you heal.

My final reason is they help people who are sick. When covid-19 was here the nurses had to get

into PPE gear to help treat patients. Some people can get cancer, my granny died from brain

cancer. They help people who have cancer. 

Those are my reasons and examples why I strongly believe hospitals are important. I hope you

enjoyed my speech.

For our learning about Matariki we had to write a diamante poem. We have to use nouns, adjectives  and verbs to make our poem.

I have been learning about part whole thinking. this helps me with my addition and subtraction thinking. I really enjoyed making a DLO about my learning! I liked my work.
