I liked going out into the garden and finding things. I hope you like my bug.
My bug is a lady bug made out of bark, leaves broken into little pieces and flax for the head. I also found 2 tiny flowers on my fairy garden plant and used these for eyes. My bug is sitting on a big leaf and has some purple and white flowers around it.
Hello Nakita, Matilda here from Owairaka District School.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed your post! I especially liked you added a title. I haven't done this year but I am going to! Maybe next time you could change the of the colour to make it more eye catching. Whats your favourite insect?
Bye, Matilda
Hi Matilda, thanks for the comment. My favourite insect is a blue ladybug. I wanted to make my bug red but I wasn't allowed paint. What is your favourite insect?
DeleteMōrena Nakita, this is Elle from the Summer Learning Journey team.
ReplyDeleteWell done on your insect art activity!
Ladybugs are one of my favourite insects and I really like that you have used so many different materials from your garden to make it! You have done a great job at paying attention to detail, like breaking up leaves into small pieces for the ladybug’s spots! I also really like that you’ve included something for the ladybug to sit on and surrounded it with flowers - it looks like it’s in a natural habitat!
What inspired you to make a ladybug and which items from your garden were your first choice to collect?
I am so happy to see that you have signed up to participate in the Summer Learning Journey! I have included a link to the Summer Learning Journey blog here so that you can see the 2020 activities that you will need to complete in order to be eligible to receive points and win prizes. Check out the two activities that were posted earlier today (December 16).
Ngā mihi nui and keep up the great work, I’m looking forward to seeing more of your activities!

Hi Elle, thanks for the comment. Lady bugs inspired me because at school i like finding the blue ones and finding the red ones and comparing them. The blue one is always smaller. The first thing I gathered in the garden was 2 little daisy's from my moss plant. I thought they could be eyes.
ReplyDeleteBlog you later
Nakita
Kia ora Nakita,
ReplyDeleteYou are most welcome, it is great to hear back from you.
That is so cool that you were inspired by different kinds of ladybugs to make your insect! You are right, the blue ones do always seem to be smaller. I remember finding lots of blue ladybugs when I was younger, but finding the red spotted ones has always been harder. It is always exciting when I do finally find the red ones - it feels like good luck!
The small daisies as eyes was a great idea and it’s cool to hear that they were the first materials you gathered.
Keep up the good work Nakita, and well done again for your awesome ladybug!
Ngā mihi,
Elle (SLJ)
